Our Getting Started Check-Ups help individuals, couples, families and others meet aging-related legal and care challenges. During your consultation, we will help you
examine the situation, |
solve existing problems and |
create a solid plan.
Consultations are available by appointment. This is an advice-only service; for longer-term representation, or document review or preparation, you should contact a private attorney.
Your consultation will focus on a single topic that you select in advance:
Long-Term Care Planning. Focuses on legal and practical aspects of care planning, incapacity planning, Medi-Cal for long-term nursing home care, and paying for care.
Estate Administration. Focuses on steps to be taken upon a person's death. Includes discussion of wills, trusts, joint tenancies, beneficiary naming, pay-on-death accounts, intestacy and probate rules, small estate provisions and other asset transfer and tax rules.
Your Getting Started Check-Up will involve two important steps:
You'll complete our six-page confidential questionnaire and bring it, with related documents and information, to your meeting.
You'll meet privately with a H.E.L.P. staff elder law attorney. We schedule these meetings for an hour; sometimes they run a little longer. The attorney will
Review and help clarify the situation with you. |
Provide you with your Getting Started Check-Up Binder, which will include copyrighted H.E.L.P. guides and other information.
Create and provide you with our confidential written report detailing our formal advice and recommended action items.
The Result?
You'll receive thoughtful, knowledgeable information and advice. You'll have solid solutions and plans. You'll be in a position to move forward.
The charge for a Getting Started Check-Up is $200, payable at the time of the meeting. We invite tax-deductible donations to help us continue to provide this and other services, and to fund Getting Started Check-Ups for those unable to pay
