The Senior Legal Hotline, a project of Legal Services of Northern
California, has started accepting calls from seniors in Southern California.
The hotline offers free legal advice by phone on any subject to
Californians over 60. Financial need is not a factor for eligibility, but
those in greatest financial or social need are more likely to receive
additional assistance in the form of document review or third-party contacts
to help resolve problems. When full-scale representation is needed,
advocates help clients find appropriate assistance.
Phone hours are from 9 to noon and 1 to 4, Monday through Friday, and
until 7 p.m. on Thursday evenings. In Sacramento, call (916) 551-2140;
toll-free elsewhere in California: (800) 222-1753. Seniors can also submit
questions by e-mail from www.seniorlegalhotline.org. Administrative
contacts: (916) 551-2145; fax (916) 551-2197.
