Do you sometimes wonder if you are
eligible for benefits that you don’t know about? The National Council on
the Aging, a non-profit organization, maintains a web site to help people
determine which federal and state programs they may be eligible for.
After you’ve logged on to the
site (called BenefitsCheckUp), you are asked to complete a questionnaire.
Answering the questions, which are about your age, income levels, work
history, and health, takes about 10 minutes. Then you click on “Submit
Questionnaire” and a minute or so later receive a list of benefits for
which you may be eligible.
While this service doesn’t
determine your actual eligibility for a benefit, it can make you aware of
benefits you may be eligible for and also of how to contact the agency or
program sponsor.
