Thank you for being a part of Some Enchanted Evening!

H.E.L.P. is deeply grateful to all the participants of our annual Celebrate Summer fundraiser, Some Enchanted Evening on July 18, 2008. More than 250 attendees came together to support our work for elders and families in the community, and we extend our heartfelt appreciation to all of you.

Guests enjoyed an enchanted evening overlooking the ocean at sunset, with champagne and dinner by candlelight. They bid on more than 130 live and silent auction items including a Tahitian cruise, a Hawaiian resort stay, an ebony player piano, a diamond necklace and other jewelry, art, dining, wine, vacations and tours. One particularly hot item in the live auction conducted by auctioneer John Kunkle had the winning bidder being able to name a character in famed author John Lescroart's upcoming 2009 suspense novel. Jacky Glass won this auction item to name the character after her late husband, Jerry Glass. Ari Perelmuter bought the diamond necklace for his wife of seven years, and Pam Popovich bought the Tahitian cruise.

We thank our honorees Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. represented by JL Armstrong, The Scriba Family and Rod Burkley who give so much to H.E.L.P. and to the community at large.

We thank our program participants board chair Helen Dennis, dinner chair and board member Jimi Andersen , co-founders Ed and Pat Long, auctioneer John Kunkle and emcee Judd McIlvain.

We also appreciate the representatives of the local press who came to the event including Meredith Grenier from the Daily Breeze, Frank and Pat Brown from the Palos Verdes Peninsula News and Mary Jane Schoenheider from Peninsula People.
