Internship Position Announcement

H.E.L.P. (Healthcare and Elder Law Programs Corporation) is seeking an intern interested in nonprofit management and development to join the team of this dynamic resource center.

H.E.L.P. is a nationally-recognized, education and counseling center providing impartial information to older adults and families on elder care, law, finances and consumer protection.

INTERNSHIP POSITION DESCRIPTION

The intern will work closely with the President and Chief Executive Officer, Development Director and Operations Manager of H.E.L.P. on a series of important projects, as follows:

  • Resource Development
    • Assisting with our activities to identify and attract sources of grant funding (e.g., foundation, government and corporate support).
    • Supporting fundraising event planning (e.g., sponsorship prospect identification, invitee list compilation, auction item solicitation).
  • Administration
    • Organizing and accessing information from our client and donor database (e.g., reports and analysis).
    • Office organization duties (e.g., maintaining filing system).
  • Nonprofit Management
    • Conducting Internet and library research.
    • Other projects as needed, depending on intern's skills and agency needs.

QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks and follow written and oral instructions accurately. Awareness of and interest in nonprofit management and development, as well as issues affecting elders and their families. Internet and database skills will be helpful in this assignment.

TIME COMMITMENT: To be determined based on intern's availability and skills and agency needs. Agency is willing to develop a schedule to promote a balance with school schedule and other time commitments.

COMPENSATION: Unpaid internship assignment. Free parking available.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: While performing projects that are a high priority to the organization, the Intern will learn from experienced mentors in the areas of nonprofit management and administration, including resource development.
